Buena Vista Social Club satellite Omara Portuondo never got the kind of attention her compatriots did. Singing delicate, romantic ballads, Portuondo sounds like a younger, female Ibrahim Ferrer. Portuondo is no kid, and no newcomer to music: she began performing in the 1940s in Cuba.
