The Last Shadow Puppets

The Last Shadow Puppets is Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner and the Rascals' Miles Kane's side project that draws inspiration from Scott Walker and early David Bowie. The pair had become firm friends when Kane's former band The Little Flames played support on the Arctic Monkeys 2005 tour. The two bands went on the road once more in 2007 which led to Turner and Kane writing songs together for a proposed collaboration. Kane would eventually play guitar on two tracks of the Arctic Monkeys' second album Favourite Worst Nightmare.
The Last Shadow Puppets debut album The Age of the Understatement saw the light of day in 2008 and features the drumming of James Ford, who also acts as the band's producer. They played Glastonbury that year and have performed a few low-key gigs as well as appearing on Jools Holland's show Later...with Jools Holland. The duo is expected to record new material in 2009 and may even find time to squeeze in a song or two with their ‘other' bands.
