The string of concerts to benefit tsunami relief continues this month with two blockbuster shows, this Friday, February 11th, and next Friday, February 18th. The first is hosted by Will.I.Am Music Group, the new label from the Black Eyed Peas singer, and the second by Linkin Park's Music for Relief foundation.
This Friday, younger stars and legends join together for a gig at Los Angeles' Avalon: Performances from Black Eyed Peas, Justin Timberlake, Macy Gray and John Legend will be matched with sets from James Brown, Carlos Santana, Herbie Hancock and Earth, Wind and Fire. All proceeds are marked for UNICEF's tsunami relief.
Meanwhile, on the 18th, at Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim, California, Linkin Park has arranged for appearances by their mash-up collaborator Jay-Z, No Doubt (on hiatus of late for frontwoman Gwen Stefani's solo stint), Blink-182, Jurassic 5 and Ozzy Osbourne. All proceeds will go to Music for Relief, which has already raised more than $1.5 million for the cause.
"Due to the incredible support and generosity of so many of our peers and supporters within the music community, Music for Relief has played a vital role in helping get aid to people who most need it," Linkin Park guitarist Brad Delson said in a statement.
Added No Doubt bassist Tony Kanal, "A disaster of this magnitude that affects so many people forces you to ask yourself, 'What can I do to help?'"
